Tafseer Imdad-ul-Karam, volume 1, sura 3, verse 96, note 51:
 |
The Prophet (pbuh) said, “A prayer held in one’s home counts as one prayer. A prayer held in the local mosque is rewarded as fifty prayers and in the central city mosque, it is rewarded as five hundred prayers. A prayer held in al-Masjid al-Aqsa or the Prophet’s Mosque counts as fifty thousand prayers, and finally, a prayer held in al-Masjid al-Haram is rewarded as one hundred thousand prayers.” (Sunan Ibn Maja)
From this hadith we learn of the excellence and superiority of the Ka‘ba over all other mosques. In another narration, we are informed that the Ka‘ba will intercede for three types of people and will ensure they enter Paradise. Firstly, a person who performed the Hajj. Secondly, a person who left his home to perform Hajj, but could not complete the journey, and, thirdly, a person who yearned to visit the Ka‘ba in his heart, but did not have the means to make the journey.
