Jamia Al-Karam gains an astounding 95% in this year’s GCSE results ______________
Jamia Al-Karam’s Al-Karam Secondary School has taken first positions in the entire county of Nottinghamshire twice in the past. The first time was in 1998 when it gained a GCSE pass rate of 85% and the second time was in last year’s GCSE results of 2005 when it gained an excellent 100% pass rate. This year again, the Al-Karam Secondary School has achieved outstanding GCSE results. As the GCSE results for all schools nationwide were released on Thursday 24 August 2006, all who were associated with Jamia Al-Karam became overwhelmingly pleased and offered gratitude to Allah (most high) for the astounding 95% pass rate. Pupils, students, members of staff, associates as well as parents of pupils and the general public, began telephoning Jamia Al-Karam – and some came to Jamia Al-Karam – to enquire about the results and offer congratulations at this success. 95% pass rate means that 95% of all pupils who sat their GCSE examinations in the summer of 2006 at Jamia Al-Karam achieved between grades A* to C in a minimum of 5 subjects. Pupils sat GCSE examinations in Science (double award), History, Mathematics, Urdu, Arabic, Religious Studies, English Language, English Literature, French and ICT. More pleasing is the fact that the majority of the grades achieved are considered to be higher passes. Since, 12% of the total grades achieved were A*, 24% were A, 26% were B and 24% were C. Commenting on this achievement, the Founder and Principal of Jamia Al-Karam, Shaykh M I H Pirzada, said, “First of all we thank Allah (most high) for this favour and blessing. Al-Karam Secondary School is going from strength to strength producing a continuous high standard of results. This achievement is due to the effort and hard work of the pupils and the tireless endeavours, sheer commitment, sincerity and concentration of the respected members of staff from all faculties including the teaching staff as well as the pastoral care and personal development staff in the boarding hostel. I congratulate all pupils and all members of staff and pray to Allah (most high) that He accepts their efforts and grants them success. In particular, I congratulate and wish to point out that this achievement could not be possible without the driving force behind the success of the school, our head teacher, respected Mr Shabbir Ahmed. His contributions are matchless.” Melvyn Idris Morgan from Leicester came in first place gaining 8 A* grades and 1 A grade. Mohammed Abdullah from Hyde came in second place gaining 4 A* grades and 5 A grades. Ayaz Ur Rehman Iqbal from Belgium came in third place gaining 3 A* grades, 4 A grades, 3 B grades and 1 C grade. May Allah (most high) accept these efforts and grant Jamia Al-Karam further success in its divine cause. Amin.
